A foot injury compensation claim can arise from a number of different scenarios involving negligence by a third party. Injuries to the feet can be sustained by a variety of means which can include a slip or trip on a pavement or public highway, through an accident at work or in a road traffic accident. These injuries can vary in severity from strains and sprains to fractures of bones including toes with the most severe injury being full or partial amputation. An entire amputation of a foot might lead to an award for pain and suffering in the region of £50,000. A simple metatarsal fracture, however, is generally awarded a figure between £3,000 and £7,000. Finally, the most straightforward sprain or fracture may attract an award of £1,500 plus.

Foot injury compensation claim settlements fall into a number of distinct categories the most common of which are :-

  • Fracture of the Talus
The Talus is the bone situated between the heel bone and the lower leg bones. It is an important weight bearing junction between the leg and the foot. Fracture causes severe pain, an inability to weight bear and swelling and tenderness.
  • Fracture of the Heel
The heel bone is often fractured in road traffic accidents or in falls from height. The injury is very disabling, restricting motion substantially, preventing weight bearing and causing considerable pain.
  • Midfoot Fracture
This injury is usually caused by dropping a heavy object onto the top of the foot however it can also be caused by pivoting or by twisting the foot. It is also possible to dislocate the bones in this area.
  • Toe and Forefoot Fracture
Broken bones in this region are uncomfortable but usually heal in a few weeks with minimum medical intervention.
